PERMITTING ISSUES

Permitting Issues

Permits from all the affected parties should be secured before the start of the bursting phase. Some of these permits could be secured by the owner and its representatives, and the rest should be secured by the contractor. The permits responsibilities should be outlined in the specifications and stated on the drawings. Permits to burst under the road and to modify the regular traffic flow according to the project traffic control plan should be secured from owner of the affected road if the pipe crosses underneath a road. If the pipe crosses underneath a runway, taxiway, drainage ditch, irrigation channel or canal, and railroad track, permits should be secured from the owners of these facilities. Communications with the affected residents should take place before bursting to inform them about road closures, night or weekend work, service disruptions, driveway blockings, etc.
